In the 80s, PLAYMAKER focused on badminton and tennis racket manufacturing and exporting. The success that we received from years of international trading has led us to believe that, in the foreseeable future, competitive sports will play a big role in the world economy and our company’s growth. Competitive sports would become a trend and revolutionize for the next 30 to 50 years. While we fought through all the obstacles and enjoyed success and growth, we faced a great challenge from the rise of China, South East Asia, Sri Lanka, and Eastern Europe, in their manufacturing ability. Coincidentally, the trend was shifting in the world of sporting goods. People went from swinging rackets and roller-skating to ever-popular in-line skating. In-line skating became popular in the USA. We saw the opportunity for change and started making skateboards and inline skates in Taiwan. It was overwhelming to see the growth and how people are crazy about in-line skating, so we took the steps and went west and started manufacturing plants in Fuzhou China to cope with large demands.
Because of the success of changing the company’s direction, we started researching and developing snowboards and wakeboards. Due to the high threshold, no other factories in Taiwan were optimistic about the investment, but we saw it as a challenge that we must overcome. We spent countless amounts of resources and capital in 8 years, had meetings with some key players in the industries, and went through many corrections and modifications, we finally earned the respect and recognition for our manufacturing ability and quality from our European and North American partners.
PLAYMAKER is the only sporting goods manufacturer in the world that does exceptionally well in both winter sport (snowboard) and summer sport (wakeboard) equipment.
